PCNJ offers fully equipped studios for etching, lithography, relief, screen-printing, letterpress, papermaking and photography. Studio users must be familiar with equipment, printing processes, and health and safety procedures.
The print studio equipment includes:
- Two Charles Brand etching presses (36" x 60" and 28"x 50" beds).
- Vandercook Universal I Reproduction proof press and 60 type drawers.
- Berkey Ascor exposure unit with vacuum frame (30"x 40").
- Hollander beater, pulp blenders, bookpress, molds, deckles, felts, tubs of various sizes and related papermaking equipment.
- Washout sink, pressure washer and thermal fax machine for silkscreen.
- Miscellaneous water and acid trays, solvents, acid, rollers of various sizes and densities, blankets, foam rubber blanket, hot plate, Dremel saw with flexible shaft drill, litho stones, buckets, sponges, files, stone grinding trough, and paper cutters.
The darkroom is equipped with:
- Beseler 45MXII enlarger with 50, 75, 105, 135mm lenses
- Contrast filters (1-4in half-steps)
- Enlarging easels up to 11"x14"
- Negative carriers for 35mm
- 2 1/4" x 3 1/4", 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" trays, tongs, timers, film developing tanks and reels, temperature controlled sink, ventilator fan, paper safe, and silver reclaimer.
Studio Fees:
Studio users must be members of the Printmaking Council. The fee for darkroom and studio use is $10 per hour $40 per day. Special discount rates are available at $150 per month, or $400 for the entire year of unlimited studio use.
